What Duty will I have to pay?

What is a genset?

Genet is generator attached to reefer unit, that required a low temperature all the way till it arrive to port of loading or final destination  

What VAT will I have to pay?

You need to refer to customs clearance department. 

Will you ship rare and/or precious cargoes?

We have provided secure transport for rare and precious cargoes for many years. However, due to the bespoke nature of this service, such cargo is subject to application

Will there be any additional charges?

Yes, depending on the dimensions.

Can you provide any advice on the optimal stuffing of a container?

Yes. Please refer to our operation department for guidance on the correct stuffing procedure.

Who do I need to speak to if I need an out of hours number for a delivery/collection?

This would be the Transport Operations teams

How do I check on the progress of my container once it has been loaded onto a truck for inland transport?

our transport operations departments can monitor your container’s progress throughout its journey. Simply contact the transport team and they will provide you with all the information you need.

How is the tariff for out-of-gauge cargo calculated?

Depending on the dimensions of the cargo whether it is over height or over width.

What's the difference between out-of-gauge and breakbulk cargo?

If the item or items to be transported are too large to fit inside a standard container, it is deemed to be ‘out of gauge’ (OOG). Such cargo might require an open top container, platform or flat rack.

If, however, the cargo is too big to be loaded onto a single flat rack, it is termed as ‘breakbulk’ or project cargo. Typically, we have to load this type of cargo across multiple flat racks on the deck of a vessel.

Can out-of-gauge cargo be transported to the same number/range of ports as standard-sized cargo?

What is the procedure to get a quote?

Who applies for a surveyor?

Customer notifies the shipping line /forwarder and a joint survey of the cargo is conducted in the presence of all involved parties. 

How long does it take to get my compensation in case of claim?

This is handled on a case-by-case basis, so please revert to the claims department for a time estimate.

Can I ship my hazardous cargo with MELC?

Yes, you can. subject to vessel operator confirmation

How is the reefer temperature maintained while at the port or in transit?

Daily monitor of temperature and box condition is undertaken by operator both at port and in transit.

How will the ocean freight be calculated on my hazardous cargo?

It depends on cargo EMO number and UN number.

What is a commodity code?

When trading internationally, you will need the correct commodity code for your goods so customs declarations can be completed accurately. The code is a ten-digit number for imports from outside the EU. Once you know the commodity code, you can look up other important information such as duty rates and any import or export restrictions.

What is a PTI?

PTI pre trip inspection is an inspection conducted on an empty reefer container before release, to ensure the correct functioning of the cooling unit, temperature control and recording devices. PTI also includes checking the container for structural damage, and ensuring that the inside of the container is clean and ready in all respect to receive cargo. 

Will I be charged extra if the vessel is delayed sailing?

In some cases, if it is a force major, clients will pay Storage fees.

Can you arrange the loading, lashing and securing of my out-of-gauge cargo?

Yes, we do, please refer to the operation department.

Can you provide 'food grade' dry vans?

Yes. In these circumstances we dehumidify our standard containers before transit to ensure they are suitable for transporting food-stuffs

Who do I need to speak to if my container has not arrived at delivery/load point?

Who do I need to speak to regarding a driver who has arrived at the booked premises but isn't quoting the reference we provided at the point of booking?

Can you provide intermodal services for moving my out-of-gauge cargo to/from ports of loading and discharge?
